Emergency First Aid at Work for Shooters

This first aid course is specifically designed for individuals who shoot or work on rifle ranges. It goes beyond the standard Emergency First Aid at Work requirements, delivering advanced, scenario-based training tailored to the unique risks of the shooting community.


The course is delivered through a blended learning approach, combining two hours of pre-course home study and eight hours of practical, hands-on training. 


This course offers a deeper balance of theory and practical application. This extended format ensures training is realistic, engaging, and directly applicable to real-world situations.

 

Duration - 1 Day Blended Learning (2 hrs home study, 8 hrs classroom)


All instruction is provided by former military combat medical technicians with extensive frontline experience. Their expertise ensures you gain the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills needed to respond effectively in emergencies.


Subjects include:

 

  • Roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Scene safety and incident management
  • First Aid equipment and kit essentials
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR and resuscitation techniques
  • Use of defibrillators (AEDs)
  • Choking management
  • Wound care, including gunshot and ballistic injuries
  • Trauma management, including tourniquet use
  • Haemostatic agents and bleeding control
  • Managing amputations, impalements, and crush injuries
  • Fracture management and splinting
  • Casualty handling and movement
  • Spinal injury management
  • Burns and scalds
  • Shock recognition and treatment
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Environmental injuries
  • Common medical conditions, including stroke and diabetes
  • Bites and stings
  • Casualty evacuation procedures

 

Courses can be tailored toward the clients specific needs and involves a heavy practical training element.

  • Group bookings 
  • Delivered at Bisley camp or your own club's location
  • FAIB-regulated certification (exceeds the recommendations for EFAW)
  • Qualification valid for three years
  • Maximum of 12 participants per course
  • Course Cost: £1,440 per course (10% discount available for NRA members)

We also run 'open' to the public courses for individuals. These are run at Bisley Shooting grounds and normally take place on Sundays. The cost for these course is £120 per candidates (£108 for discounted courses). Dates for these courses are:
